CyberEvo Controlled by Tarzan

If you haven’t heard of the Cyber Evo, you probably didnt pay much attention to Time Attack. It is possibly the fastest car in Time Attack and was the development platform for the Voltex body kit.

Its 3.95km long, contains 11 corners and you can expect alot of heartbreak and glory moments.. Yes, it is  the Sydney Motorsport Park’s GP Circuit, also known as the WTAC Circuit.

The World Time Attack Challenge winner's trophy was once belongs to Tarzan Yamada's 1:28.8510 for 2 consecutive years [ 2010 & 2011 ]. Kudos to Tarzan Yamada, Takizawa-san, Unlimited Works and Voltex for their impressive performance.

WHO IS TARZAN YAMADA?

HE IS OLD!!!!!! BUT I LIKE HIM!

If you are from Japan, and you dont know him. You might as well learn about him. He is a Japanese time attack driver. Yamada has raced in both the JGTC and Japanese Touring Car Championship.

Yamada has raced in numerous series in Japan and America since 1981. His championships include the 1991 Formula Mirage class and 2002 N1 Super Taikyu endurance.

The CyberEVO team is quite mysterious and doesn't like to talk about their car in too much in detail. .If Garage HRS sounds familiar, that's because they used to build and maintain the CyberEVO before Unlimited Works did. Tarzan remains as the driver and Takizawa remains the owner and engine tuner.

While in motorsports, everybody thinks that the CyberEVO wasnt safe for the speeds that it's capable of, Takizawa-san took the concept of a Time Attack car to the max. Thats what I called - A tuner that unleash the hidden power of a car. Everything is just good enough for one lap , great huh. Simplicity and weight are the keys to its success.

Just like a band needs the right people to sound good and write a hit, the Cyber team in 2010 and 2011 had all the right partners to be the fastest Time Attack car in the world.

The CyberEVO uses some version of the A'PEXi Isamu RX-6 turbo upgrade with a an ultra-lightweight IHI RX-6 turbo, thin wall stainless steel exhaust manifold, and an Apex water cooled 50mm wastegate. To give you an idea of how light they are, Honda used two of them on their F1 twin turbo V6 back in the mid 80's. IHI RX-6s, I think they weight right around 11 lbs (5 kgs) a piece. For comparison, a Garrett GT35R weighs around 16 lbs and a motorsport grade Garrett TR30R weighs 12 lbs. There are four compressor wheels available in the RX-6 family ranging from 400-650hp, but surprisingly the CyberEVO's RX-6 isn't one of the larger compressors. Since IHI had stopped production of the RX-6, I believe a guy by the name of Sagami in Japan now builds the CyberEVO's RX-6s.

After winning the World Time Attack Challenge in Australia two years in a row, the car is now retired.

Goodnight CyberEvo.

Hoping that, one day I can hear you roar again with the command of Tarzan Yamada.
