Introducing the New MINI 5-Door
MINI Malaysia had introduced the second body variant of the third generation MINI, the New MINI 5-Door.
On 12 November 2014,it marked the new born of the new MINI – I was at the launch of the New MINI 5-Door. Trust me, this is one hell of the unexpected launch that I really love . It was held at KLCC Multi-Level Car Park.

Redefining city driving fun, the latest MINI is represented as the first ever five-door
model in the small car segment.
Carrying
forward the trademark MINI go-kart feeling with its iconic MINI design, the New
MINI 5-Door will further underscore the British premium brand’s exceptional
driving experience in excitement, efficiency, comfort, safety and connectivity
with complete practicality.

Introducing the New MINI 5-Door, Mr. Alan Harris, Managing
Director of BMW Group Malaysia said, “With

The unique proportions of the New MINI Cooper S 5-Door
receives a defined expansion in exterior dimensions in comparison to its
original three door model, the new MINI 3-Door. While retaining its distinctive
MINI design elements such as short overhangs as well as front shell-shaped
bonnet, the New MINI Cooper S 5-Door is 16 cm longer than the original MINI
hatch to further accentuate the car’s character of offering more space and the
additional door option.

The body of the New MINI Cooper S 5-Door stands at 3,982mm
long, 1,727mm wide and 1,425mm high – all of which will benefit the additional
two doors as well as easier accessibility for back-seat passengers who will
experience convenient ingress and egress movements. Additionally, the extended
body length of the New MINI Cooper S 5-Door also increases the luggage
compartment volume by 67 litres for a total of 278 litres in comparison to the
MINI hatch.
In its looks, the New MINI Cooper S 5-Door’s unmistakable
appearance is further accentuated by the car’s hallmark brand styling and can
be recognized by its radiator grille with a honeycomb pattern and classic
elliptical headlamps. The New MINI 5-Door is also fitted with LED daytime
driving lights as well as LED headlights and fog lamps, which provides the
light source for both low and high beams for the car, as well as Park Distance
Control function at the rear.
While letting it spin with class and style, the New MINI
Cooper S 5-Door sports run-flat tyres with 17” Roulette Spoke two-tone rims.
The Heart of the MINI – Engine Segment, the New MINI Cooper S
5-Door offers a 2.0-litre MINI TwinPower Turbo Technology petrol engine which
delivers a maximum output of 141kW/192hp and 280Nm of torque to enable a much
sportier driving performance than ever before. This is the same power plant
introduced in the new MINI 3-Door earlier this year. Coupled with a six speed
automatic sport transmission, the New MINI Cooper S 5-Door accelerates from
0-100km/h in just 6.8 seconds with a top speed of 230km/h. These figures are
combined with an average fuel consumption reading of 5.5 litres per 100km with
C02 emissions level reading of 129g/km.

With extra helpings of fun city driving can be further
experienced as the New MINI Cooper S 5-Door also combines a sports automatic
transmission with the automatic engine start/stop function. This prevents
unnecessary fuel consumption caused by idling at junctions or in congested
traffic. Isnt a perfect solution for all the drivers who kept on complaining
about the fuel’s price?
The mood of driving the New MINI 5-Door continues to offer
premium interior ambience while further emphasizing precise lines, high-end
colour and material combinations as well as modern functionality, making the New
MINI 5-Door a true and complete 5 seater!
However, the new MINI Cooper S 5-Door features Leather Cross
Punch Carbon Black Upholstery as well as sports seats for both the driver and
front passenger. The Black Checkered interior surface, Chrome Line Interior and
headliner in Anthracite are used to further accentuate its interior ambience
and stylish feel. Completing the car’s inside sporty feel is the MINI John
Cooper Works multifunction leather steering wheel with paddle shifters, rain
sensor and automatic lights control, non-slip leather rims with perforations,
Chilli Red contrast stitching and the JCW logo embedded into the 6 o’clock
position.
The New MINI Cooper S 5-Door also features the ideal basis for
safe, intuitive and convenient control of the driver assistance, infotainment
and comfort systems where all of which
are offered from the hallmark MINI central instrument panel. MINI Connected for
example, offers an extensive integration of smartphones in the car, allowing
the use of internet-based services in the area of infotainment, communications
and driver experience. These can be operated in typical MINI style through a
6.5” MINI Visual Boost LCD display with 5-key controller.
The innovative display and operating concept of the New MINI
Cooper S 5-Door is also supported by the lighting design of the central
instrument panel which is unique to MINI.Hmmmm…………. The interior of the New
MINI Cooper S 5-Door is not just a daytime head-turner but its unique lighting
concept now also turns any night-time drive into an authentic experience,
particularly with the MINI Excitement package which allows the instruments and
operating modules which including the door trim and centre console area to
illuminate.
The New MINI Cooper S 5-Door will be available in eleven
exterior paint shades, with the addition of Electric Blue as a new MINI colour
exclusive to the new MINI 5-Door. The roof, exterior mirror caps and bonnet
stripes are also available in two colour options of white or black.
In this new MINI Cooper S 5-Door also arrives packaged with
the MINI Service Inclusive program which offers comprehensive MINI after-sales
care for 3 years or 50,000KM and will be available at all authorised MINI
dealership nationwide from the weekend of the 15th and 16th
November 2014.
