Drivers in Malaysia
When I first learnt about traveling to another town, suburb,
state by car, I often hear the driver saying “KL plate, apa pun boleh! (what
also can!)”. Do you know what does that mean?
In Malaysia, there are different kinds of driving styles.
For instance, in the state of Malacca,
approximately 150km away from KL city, the drivers drive at a slower pace. They
don’t beat the RED traffic light, they don’t fancy over taking. They generally
take driving really slowly.
In the state of Penang,
for some reason the drivers drive around like they own the road. Indicators are
obsolete, consideration for other drivers is all but down the drain. Traffic
lights are very much lighting decorations.
Then back in KL city
is where all drivers from all the states of Malaysia gather. So you have a
compilation of inconsiderate, mush for brains drivers. Everything learnt from
driving school goes to waste as nothing can prepare you for driving on city
roads other than experience. Too many people lack common sense which in turn
leads to accidents and of course road rage. “I am in the right, everyone else is just driving wrong” mentally
seems to have taken a foothold in the minds of today’s drivers.
Facts about KL drivers:
1.We are always stuck in a jam, we developed the in-patient syndrome in
majority
drivers. We tend to speed up no matter where we go.
2.If you are slow, we over take.
3.When the sign shows no U-turn, we do it the KL style. TURN.

4. For normal highway, we speed at 100kmph, at
express highway 180kmph.
