Nissan Relief Campaign - Malaysia Historic Flood

Whilst the world was celebrating the season of Joy and New Year. It was a very unlucky season for Malaysia.  Floods in Malaysia are regular natural disasters which happen nearly every year during the monsoon season. December 2014 - Northern and Eastern states of Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Perak and Perlis in Malay Peninsula were hit by flash floods including some areas in Sabah.

Heavy seasonal rains and strong winds have affected most parts of Malaysia since mid-December 2014 and are expected to continue until early January 2015. The rains caused severe flooding in the East Coast – Terengganu, Pahang, and Kelantan states. In addition to the three most affected states, four other states in Peninsular Malaysia (Perak, Johor, Selangor and Perlis states) and one state in East Malaysia (Sabah) also are experiencing floods due to the heavy rainfalls (highest recorded at 255 mm). (IFRC, 28 Dec 2014)

By 31 Dec, at least 21 people had been killed and almost a quarter of a million people had been displaced. Kelantan state was the worst-hit state, with 14 deaths and more than 158,000 people displaced. (AFP, 31 Dec 2014). The IFRC is preparing a Disaster Relief Emergency Fund (DREF) amounting to CHF 82,964 (approximately USD 83,000) to support 25,000 (5,000 families) for a period of one month. (IFRC, 31 Dec 2014)

I could not imagine more as a cars and animals lover myself. I put my thought beyond on those metals and furs as my priorities. When those news shown 40 animals were missing from the shelters during the hit of the flood. My heart sank!

The most painful would be those newly bought cars. A lot of personal property is damaged during floods .As such, some car companies are now offering special support to their customers whose vehicles require repairs.

What surprise me when Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM), together with and Tan Chong Ekspres Auto Servis (TCEAS) both working together for this new campaign to help out those unlucky owners out there. They called it ‘Nissan Relief Campaign’ for their Nissan customers in flood-stricken areas around the country. For vehicles that have been damaged by the current floods that have hit many areas in Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Perak, Perlis and even Sabah.

The Nissan Relief Campaign will provide:

  1. 25% discount for Nissan genuine spare parts used on affected Nissan vehicles.
  2. 25% discount on labour charges related to repair work on affected Nissan vehicles
  3. Free towing charges for affected Nissan vehicles of up to RM150 (terms & conditions apply)
  4. 3 months or 5,000 kms warranty on labour and Nissan genuine parts replacement on affected Nissan vehicles.

“As a Malaysian company, our growth has only been due to the support Malaysians have given us throughout the years. And with the flood situation being one of the worst in this country’s history, this is one way we can help relief the burden of our customers. It is our responsibility to do what we can to assist those who have supported us in their time of need,” says Tan Keng Meng, Director of Marketing and Product Planning of ETCM.

The Nissan Relief Campaign will be on till February 28, 2015 and flood victims are urged to send their affected Nissan vehicles to the nearest service centre.
For further enquiries, customers can also contact the 24-hour Nissan Customer Care Centre hotline number at 1-800-88-3838.

Do you know, a simple help could mean a big different for car owners out there. House would be priority, but some do take their car seriously. May God bless everyone out there. Indeed, I called it " A season of Help Needed "
