Let’s head out for the first article of 2015.
Petrol Crisis in Malaysia.

Everybody knows Malaysia is famous for its Petroleum. This point would allow us to have more flexibilities on low petrol prices and more local cars to be manufactured. However, we have more and more cars on the road where as our Petrol Prices has been a rollercoaster ride for the past years.
Effective today, the government announced a price drop of 35 cents for RON 95 and RON 97 petrol, to RM1.91 and RM2.11 a litre, respectively.

When the world sees Malaysia as one of the growing country. But many people are struggling on paying off their loans. I am one of them as well. Petrol Prices do make a changes in one daily life. Perodua Myvi – Fuel Tank Capacity is 40 litre. Let’s do a simple calculation on how youth or fresh graduates on how can they survive based on the best-selling model car of the year and our petrol consumption here in Malaysia.

RON 95 – RM 1.91/litre x 40 litre (Full Tank) = RM 76.40 approximately 300km
RON 97 - RM 2.11/litre x 40 litre (Full Tank) = RM 84.40 approximately 360km

Price drop of 35 cents for RON 95 and RON 97:
RON 95 – RM 1.91/litre x 40 litre (Full Tank) = RM 76.40/week x 4 = RM 305.60/mth
RON 97 - RM 2.11/litre x 40 litre (Full Tank) = RM 84.40/week x 4 = RM 337.60/mth

Previously:
RON 95 – RM 2.26/litre x 40 litre (Full Tank) = RM 90.40/week x 4 = RM 361.60/mth
RON 97 - RM 2.46/litre x 40 litre (Full Tank) = RM 98.40/week x 4 = RM 393.60/mth

With the additional of RM 50 a month save. It does makes a different for a lower income makers. Thus, I am picking on an average car to make show the example. By April, the additional 6% GST will be kicking in. Even with the GST kicks in, it is still going to be cheaper than 35cents more.

RON 95 – RM 1.91/litre x 40 litre (Full Tank) = RM 76.40 + 6% = RM 80.99/week x 4 = RM 323.96
RON 97 - RM 2.11/litre x 40 litre (Full Tank) = RM 84.40 + 6% = RM 89.50/week x 4 = RM 358.00

Do your calculation and think about it! Whereas, I been through it so many times. Petrol prices to me is like a SEASONAL SALE! You will never know when it will hike it back to the original price or even higher. All you can hope the Sale Promotion will go on forever!
