The Launch of Porsche Sungai Besi, 911 Targa 4S and New Cayenne

Thursday, 28th May 2015 – The launch of the new Porsche Centre Sungai Besi was definitely a surprise. Upon entry, the first thing that came to mind was that it looked more like a high-class clothes boutique that you may find over in Milan.

Arnt Bayer, CEO of Sime Darby Auto Performance said “We  look forward to providing customers a complete ownership experience” much like what boutiques do as well, which in turn explains the architecture of the premises.

To celebrate the opening of Porsche Centre Sungai Besi, SDAP introduced the new 911 Targa 4S and the new Cayenne range. The Targa brings to life a modern classic following the timeless design of the original Targa and the sportiness of today.

The new 911 Targa 4S is a pretty little thing and very suited for us female drivers. Measuring at 4491mm, it is 21cm or 210mm different from our local Proton Saga FLX. The interior is to die for, leather wrapped on pretty much everything and limited gadgets for a simple and fun drive. Limited gadgets means that you do not have to crack your head to figure out how to get the air-condition working of 10 million settings on how to drive.

In addition, it’s a convertible for those beautiful days when you wish to let feel the wind in your hair. Though the drawback would be the boot space. Though not exactly inconvenient, the boot space available is enough for the occasional shopping spree as the retractable roof does not intrude into the cabin but definitely insufficient space for a full out family vacation.

For the guys, the benchmark spring to 100 km/h is done in 4.4 seconds when equipped with the PDK and Sport Chrono package. To some the fuel consumption ranges from 10.0 to 9.2 l/100km depending on the transmission fitted and of course depending on the way we drive.

The new Cayenne models were also launched, dubbed the v2 II models. Right of the bat, the Cayenne, Cayenne Diesel, Cayenne S, Cayenne S Diesel and the Cayenne S E-Hybrid is made available. Extra info would be the E-Hybrid model is the first plug-in hybrid in the premium SUV segment. The Cayenne S is equipped with a new 3.6 litre V6 bi-turbo engine specifically designed for Porsche SUVs. The downsize from the V8 allowed the Cayenne S to increase its efficiency coupled with improved performance.

According to its data, all Cayenne models including the diesels set standards in fuel consumption. The Cayenne S Diesel is equipped with a 4.8 litre V8 turbo diesel engine and sprints from 0 to 100 km/h is 5.4secs. A real jump in the seat when its pedal to the metal.

Porsche is definitely taking customer ownership experience to a whole new level with vehicles and service centres that cater to customers. You can even customize your ride to your imagination.

Interested in getting a Porsche be it new of pre-owned, its service centres cater to new and existing customers. We end with a quote from Ferry Porsche - In the beginning, I looked around and could not find the car I'd been dreaming of: a small, lightweight sports car that uses energy efficiently. So I decided to build it myself.
